This is “the shore property” on Lake Huron just west of Thessalon, Ontario. Today there is a year round residence that is far from the “roughing it” level of camping we enjoyed growing up. I painted this for my nephew’s wedding and I plan to paint several of the islands in this bay.
The North Channel of Lake Huron is an underdeveloped, remote passageway connected to an island network that extends through Ontario’s Thousand Islands. Its immense size, 160 nautical miles by 20 nautical miles, nearly qualifies it to be a lake itself. Filled with untamed islands, secluded coastlines, and hidden beaches, the channel is a paradise for explorers.
